KEYED TRANSACTIONS USING THE NEXSWIPE SYSTEM

Quick Guide To Keying In Transactions

With the NexSwipe service, you can also key transactions through, as opposed to swiping them. The following instructions will explain how you can properly process credit card transactions by entering the card numbers in. We will assume that you have already set up your phone.

Warning

Keying in card numbers should be performed only when you cannot read the card through your reader. This is because the merchant bank will charge you a penalty for this, which can typically be anywhere from .9% to 1.5%, depending on your merchant agreement.

This screen-by-screen tutorial will step you through the process of accepting credit cards by keying the card number in. It is assumed you have set up your phone with the instructions in "First-time Setup. Use this ONLY when you cannot read the customer card through the reader. The bank charges a penalty (typically .9% to 1.5% see your merchant agreement).

To begin, turn your phone on, and let it connect to its service. Once you see the screen to the right, press the MENU button on your phone.
The main menu should appear, with the option "Net" already selected.

Press SELECT.

From your Bookmarks menu, select the Merchant ID that was set up earlier, and press OK.
Enter your Merchant ID. Press OK.
Enter your Password. Press OK.
Use the DOWN arrow to select "Keyed" and Press OK.
Input the cardholder's name, and then Press NEXT.
Use the DOWN ARROW to select the card type (if necessary). Press OK.
Enter the account number from the card, and press NEXT.
Enter the expiration date from the card, and press NEXT.
Next, we enter the amount of the transaction. The total will be without the decimal point, so, as an example, 3000 equals $30.00, and 59900 equals $599.00. When done, press NEXT.
If your business is one that accepts tips, your tip amount can be entered here. Once complete, press NEXT.
Now, the charge to be made should be displayed (with decimal points to ensure the amount is exactly right). Once everything is correct, press CHARGE.
If you have received a screen like this one, congratulations! You have completed the transaction.
