SWIPING TRANSACTIONS WITH NEXSWIPE

A Quick Guide

The following tutorial will allow you to step through the process of processing credit cards with the NexSwipe card reader over your Nextel telephone. We will assume you have already set up the phone.

To begin, turn your phone on, and let it connect to its service.
Once you see the screen at top right, press the MENU button on your phone. You should then see this screen. The main menu should now appear, with the option "Net" selected.
Press the SELECT button.

From the "Bookmarks" menu, select the "Merchant ID" . Press OK.

Enter your Merchant ID. Press OK.
Enter your Password. Press OK.
Swiped is the default here, Press OK.
If you have not hooked your NexSwipe reader to your Nextel phone, please do this now. To find out how to do this, read the "Using The Reader" instructions here.
From there, swipe the card, and asterisks (**) will appear in groups, with a slight pause between the groups.
It may take up to 20 seconds for the credit card information to be transferred to your phone. Once the transfer is completed, the asterisks will stop appearing. Press NEXT. In a swiped transaction, you will see this screen. It confirms that the card was just read correctly. From there, press YES.
Next, we enter the amount of the transaction. The total will be without the decimal point, so, as an example, 3000 equals $30.00, and 59900 equals $599.00. When done, press NEXT.
If your business is one that accepts tips, your tip amount can be entered here. Once complete, press NEXT.
Now, the charge to be made should be displayed (with decimal points to ensure the amount is exactly right). Once everything is correct, press CHARGE.
If you have received a screen like this one, congratulations! You have completed the transaction.

Next, learn how to key in transactions here.
